  • What is your current WP Version?

    As the WordPress 6.0 is a major release. It might be possible that you first need to update with WP 5.9.3 and then you can update to 6.0. Sometimes it happens that you can not see the latest updated version of the plugin/WP before updating to a particular version.

    that site has 5.9.3 as shown in the screen capture. I always update as soon as possible.

    @krupalpanchal – I was already on 5.9.3.
    If you want to see what I see, click on the link above that says “Screen grab showing latest version”

    Hi @radio_mogul

    Do you have the same setup for other sites like Theme Navigation Pro, Genesis Framework, PHP version 7.4, and Firefox for editing? And Update showing on those sites and not only on this site?

    Thread Starter radio_mogul

    (@radio_mogul)

    the setup is virtually the same, but each of the sites has a different theme.
    They are all Genesis/Studio press child themes built on the Genesis framework.

    @krupalpanchal – It’s frustrating – because Wordfence says ”
    An update is available for WordPress (v6.0)

    but when I click on it – all I get is:

    Here you can find information about updates, set auto-updates and see what plugins or themes need updating.
    Current version: 5.9.3

    So why doesn’t it give me the opportunity to update to 6.0???

    Not sure if you got an answer on this but I’m going to guess based on sites I’m involved with. On one host, the shared hosting WP is on 6.0 but on that same host, the Hosted WordPress site is 5.9.3. I’m guessing that host is waiting to make sure everything is stable before rolling it out to their Hosted WordPress clients.

    @jbculpepper – so it’s a GoDaddy (the WP host site) thing?
    They are all different hosting plans, but all on shared GoDaddy hosting.

    Interesting thought. thanks for suggesting. I guess I have to call them to get the definitive answer. You rock!

    Note I didn’t mention GoDaddy by name but yea, you nailed it. I suppose that WP version 6.0 needs PHP 8.0 and they don’t want to pull the trigger until enough of their hosted WordPress clients have got themes etc. that can support it. I only know that much because one of my supported sites is on an old clunker of a theme that broke in testing under PHP 8. Again, this is only guess work but if getting on to 6.0 is important to you, give them a call. Make sure you can run PHP 8.0.

    @radio_mogul hope you got the answer for you question from this support forum.

    that must be the case, because one of the sites just autoupdated to 6.0

    thanks everyone for the comments. I hope this thread helps others with the same issue.
