    Hi Alan,
this is similar to a post that was logged last year but that poster never explained how he fixed the problem.
I can’t give you a link because my site isn’t live yet.

So, 301 and 302 redirects work great!!

however the 404 redirect to a custom page does not work correctly. I just get a blank page with my header and footer in it, but no content.

my Permalinks are set to ‘Post Name’

I created the page using Elementor (free) and selected that page in the target for the 404 in settings. Maybe it needs to be a plain WOrdPress page? I’ll try that tomorrow and let you know.

In the mean time, do you know how that guy from last year fixed the same issue he had?

    regards,
    Sean

    Settings look like:

    Redirect settings
    ——————————————————
Redirect to ‘404 Error Page’ Page
    Redirect Type ()301 ()302 (x) 404

Only use 404 if you have written a custom page specifically for 404s. If you need
more info on 301 vs 302 redirect, read the ‘SEO blog’ article.

    404 Log Settings
    ——————————————————

Log (x) Enable logging of 404 errors
Do not redirect () Tick this if you want the plugin redirect settings
to be IGNORED, any only log 404s
    Log history ’60’ Days
Select the number of days to keep 404 log history

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Really difficult to say without seeing it. Any chance of loading on a temporary site, or using a localhost tunnel like ngrok.

Yep, I know. I’ll be putting a version of the site live later today, so I’ll drop you back a message with a link then.
I’ll also drop a note if I figure it out so others can benefit from my newbie error.
    Sean.

With things like that, my first ‘shout’ is go to tools>permalinks and hit save again.

Anyway let us know how you get on.

    Hi Alan,
I tried that, no joy, also tried a few different permalink formats.

Anyhow, I’m fairly sure the problem is not related to your plugin. I disabled it and am still getting empty 404 pages, so it looks like an issue in the theme.

In any case, I’m very happy with the 302 redirects ??

    BTW, the site is https://bluecricket.ie

    best,
    Sean.
