    Hi there,

I have been using your Yoast SEO (free version) for over a year but after your most recent updates, your plugin has started to slow down large WordPress websites. Nothing changed, with the site, the only difference is that when Yoast SEO is active, the front and back end (mostly back end) are extremely slow. And when the Yoast SEO is deactivated, the website is super fast.

I am uninstalling the Yoast SEO until you fix this issue. Perhaps I will give Rank Math a try in the mean time. No one likes slow sites.

    Wordpress 6.0

    Thanks

@jacksmithy We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. Nothing has changed with the site in question. All plugins and Yoast SEO were fine for over a year or so, however, the only plugin that is causing the site to slow down is unfortunately Yoast SEO. Perhaps this plugin is okay for smaller websites 1000 – 10000 but bigger ones, it seems to struggle by making the admin end extremely slow.

I am deactivating it for now until fix pushed through an update. In the mean time I will be giving Rank Math a try.

    Kind regards

Please check this database error caused by Yoast SEO plugin.

the error_log file size is 175MB all error from Yoast SEO.

    Thanks

    [24-Jun-2022] WordPress database error Table ‘ains8_/wp_yoast_indexable_hierarchy’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired for query SELECT ancestor_id FROM wp__yoast_indexable_hierarchy WHERE indexable_id = ‘46768’ ORDER BY depth DESC made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), require_once(‘wp-includes/template-loader.php’), include(‘/themes/rehub-theme/single.php’), get_header, locate_template, load_template, require_once(‘/themes/rehub-theme/header.php’), wp_head, do_action(‘wp_head’), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, Yoast\WP\SEO\Integrations\Front_End_Integration->call_wpseo_head, do_action(‘wpseo_head’), WP_Hook->do_action, WP_Hook->apply_filters, Yoast\WP\SEO\Integrations\Front_End_Integration->present_head, Yoast\WP\SEO\Presenters\Schema_Presenter->present, Yoast\WP\SEO\Presenters\Schema_Presenter->get, Yoast\WP\SEO\Presentations\Abstract_Presentation->__get, Yoast\WP\SEO\Presentations\Indexable_Presentation->generate_schema, Yoast\WP\SEO\Generators\Schema_Generator->generate, Yoast\WP\SEO\Generators\Schema_Generator->generate_graph, Yoast\WP\SEO\Generators\Schema\Breadcrumb->generate, Yoast\WP\SEO\Presentations\Abstract_Presentation->__get, Yoast\WP\SEO\Presentations\Indexable_Presentation->generate_breadcrumbs, Yoast\WP\SEO\Generators\Breadcrumbs_Generator->generate, Yoast\WP\SEO\Repositories\Indexable_Repository->get_ancestors, Yoast\WP\SEO\Repositories\Indexable_Hierarchy_Repository->find_ancestors, Yoast\WP\Lib\ORM->find_array, Yoast\WP\Lib\ORM->run, Yoast\WP\Lib\ORM::execute

I had a client insisting on using Yoast. The slow queries were piling up even after MySQL optimizations.

I found a temporary solution by importing Yoast SEO to Rank Math and then Rank Math back to Yoast SEO.

The site was fast again, but after a few weeks, the problem continued.

It seems to be a problem with sites that have 1000s of pages and posts.

Yoast SEO is a good product, but you will need some customization done to Yoast SEO to deliver performance on big sites.
