Can’t Remove htaccess message from Dashboard
-
I recently removed wordfence in favor of your product. (I also removed all wordfence tables from the database to make sure no “garbage” causes me issues later).
I installed your plugin, but temporarily deactivated it (no configurations performed).
The Problem:
After I reactivated your plugin I get this message in my dashboard:Would you like All In One WP Security & Firewall to re-insert the security rules in your .htaccess file which were cleared when you deactivated the plugin? Yes | No
I saw this previous on this topic, but it isn’t applicable to my sistuation:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/re-insert-the-security-rules-in-your-htaccess-file/There seems to be -NO- way to remove the error message:
Things that I have tried:
1. deactivated/activated the plugin again
2. repeatedly answered “yes”
3. verified that .htaccess does exist on the server
4. completely deleted your plugin and all tables from the database and reinstalled the plugin.
5. turned off all cache applications
6. wp cache flushPlease advise…
thanks

Hi,
I just tried to recreate your issue but I do not experience the same result.
Can you try opening the JS console whilst you click “yes”, if there are any errors, can you take a screenshot. Please see here for some instructions: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-open-my-browsers-developer-tools/
Can you also check your file permissions for the .htaccess (they should be 644)Hi there…
thanks for the follow up. You were right about incorrect permissions on my .htaccess so I changed them to be 644. However, this did not solve my problem. Additionally the JS console is clean.
Also I am including plugin list, in case you see any known plugin conflicts that I may nnot be aware off:
I can’t see anythings that I would be able to say is causing the issue. If you deactivate all of them but AIO does the problem persist?
No luck… All plugins deactivated except for yours…. same problem:
ps.. if this helps, I am on a multisite

Hi,
I did notice you were on a multisite from you plugins and I have already tried to replicate the issue on a multisite test site that I have with no luck.
Could you ask your hosts for your php error logs.
What kind of server are you using (apache, ngix)?I am the admin.. VPS LAMP virtualmin control Panel
List whatever commands you want me to run… this is my php extension list:
[PHP Modules] apc apcu bcmath bz2 calendar Core ctype curl date dom exif FFI fileinfo filter ftp gd gettext gmp hash iconv igbinary imagick imap intl json ldap libxml mbstring memcache memcached msgpack mysqli mysqlnd openssl pcntl pcre PDO pdo_mysql pdo_sqlite Phar posix pspell readline redis Reflection session shmop SimpleXML soap sockets sodium SPL sqlite3 ssh2 standard sysvmsg sysvsem sysvshm tidy tokenizer xdebug xml xmlreader xmlrpc xmlwriter xsl Zend OPcache zip zlib [Zend Modules] Xdebug Zend OPcache
/var/log/php7.4-fpm.log is clean
I am afraid I am going to have to ask one of our developers to have a look.
I don’t see anything obvious that would be causing your issue@dragonsway76 I suppose you have activated the AIOS plugin network-wide.
Go to Toolbar > My Sites > Main Site > Dashboard as indicated in the screenshot https://prnt.sc/0U_GwivMuZbk.
This notice should be displayed only on main site. I am creating a task for it in our internal management task.
You should consider the notice only on main site dashboard. We will remove this notice from subsite except the main site. Thanks for notifying us.
Thanks!
I already did that and the message will not go away. (I just tried again).. As part of basic troubleshooting, I went to the main site -and- every subsite dashboard page… clicking “yes” on all of them.
The message will not go away.
Please make sure that the .htaccess file exists and it’s owner is the same user that is running your webserver and also make sure that .htaccess has the permission either rw-r–r-x 0645 or rw-rw-r-x 0655.

You have advised me to do all of these things previously, I did them, and none of them have work. Therefore your last post probably means that you have no idea why your product does not work and you are merely repeating something technical, hoping that I will go away and the situation doesn’t look so bad in a public forum.
Fail.
This situation looks as bad as it seems to be. Your product and probably other updraft products appear to be so buggy that you have no idea how to fix them or make them work.
I like open source products. I hope you guys succeed. But no one likes to have their time wasted.
So with all due respect how about you:
a.) provide a viable solution, or
b.) do the responsible thing, admit that your product doesn’t work / isn’t compatible on WP 6 so that others don’t their time as well.
Bugs happen, we all expect that, but try to “man-up” a bit and simply admit the situation rather than wasting everyone’s time repeating garbage? Ask for more time and info to find a solution, not this cowardly “please go away”.

Big thanks for whatever update you guys pushed… I started getting pop-ups asking me to try optimize and other plugins from you guys.. I dismissed the popup and was able to so get rid of the constant htaccess message…
Now, If you guys can figure out how to make your plugin actually write to the htaccess file peace and tranquility will reign across the universe for a million years.. (don’t laugh, it could happen)
