Great gallery plugin with limited free features

  • I want to love the plugin. The available features in free version are so limited that you can’t do much setting up a decent gallery and are forced to buy the pay version. There are other free gallery plugins with more features.

    @skylabb – Thanks for stopping by. Curious what features you found Modula was missing compared to other solutions? I’m just surprised by your statement right now …

    Last time we checked it was actually the other way around. We were offering a lot more in the free version than our competition. We have quite a dew reviews that mention this, specifically.

    Still interested in learning more and hopefully we can continue improving our product …

    I can confidently say that 70% of features and functions of this plugin is restricted to commercial version. Most solidly good plugins (not necessarily gallery) with big user base do offer ~70% free and ‘some’ advanced features in commercial version. For example, you have two dozens of filer styles, and none is available in free version. Without filtering available in free version, I can’t test out how tagging can categorization work flow goes. I manage hundreds of images and it’s important that image tagging process is efficient and easy. It would make more sense if there are basic or limited options for most features and more advanced options in pay version. That is, a couple basic filer styles and more fancy styles in pay version instead of none for filtering.

    Also in image modal view, you can not advance to the next image using keyboard arrow keys or swipe gestures which are fairly standard in modern interactive design.

    @skylabb – thanks for your input. In my opinion, we’re giving away WAY more than any other gallery plugin on the market (that’s the comparison I’m making). We’re offering multiple grid types in the free version, without any image limit – can’t say the same for our competition.

    I do agree though that we could make it easier for someone to test the “pro” functionality – either through a free trial or a demo where you can just log in and play around with it.

    I’ll take this feedback back to the team and we’ll analyze your input thoroughly.
