    Hi there,

Is there a way to change the folder from which the “import from existing file” capability imports from? Currently, it appears to only work from the “/var/www/wptbox/wp-content/uploads/wp-import-export-lite/upload” folder.

Adding some folder flexibility would be great as it would allow importing from files uploaded using other form plugins.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

We can’t Change upload directory path for security reasons. User can access all files from your site.

Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks and have a nice day

What do you mean by “User can access all files from your site.”?

I’d only want to site admin to be able to change the file location that this plugin can import from (so it would be permissions based, not any user). This should solve the security issue, correct?

    Thanks!

I found this plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-file-upload/) which could be useful for adding the “change upload folder” feature. It mentions an “uploadpath” attribute. I’m not sure if it’s a code thing as I can’t see an option in settings, but I’d advise a GUI settings option rather than code.
