I have a slideshow working using nextGen Gallery and the JW Player Imagerotator. I want to display each image description as a caption. Seems like a simple thing, but…

I found one example here https://nextgen-gallery.com/slideshow/ Where can I get the captions template file?

It would be great to be able to manipulate the titles and descriptions with css. Possible?

Do I have to do this with a playlist? I had hoped to avoid a playlist so that everything could be done during image upload in the Nextgen Gallery plugin.

    Any resources, tips, GREATLY appreciated.

  • You can achieve the effect that Alex got on that slideshow page by adding spaces before and after your description text that you enter for each photo under Manage Gallery.

It takes roughly 51 spaces, including your text, to make the previous and next buttons, as well as the image count, move off screen.

    Hope that helps.

I wasn’t thinking well on that last post.

You can disregard the part about spacing. The spacing depends entirely on how big your slideshow is so it’s going to take trial and error.

Thanks, but even though I turn the navigation bar on in
Gallery > Options > Slideshow it does not show up on the slideshow. I am showing the slideshow in the sidebar via a widget.

I resolved this by displaying the slideshow on a page, copying the code, and inserting it into the sidebar via the text widget.

Sure would be nice to have more control over the slideshow display, being able to display and style (css) title, description. Also, slide order doesn’t work.

Sorry I didn’t respond earlier, I have been kept from the computer for awhile now.

The slideshow is a third party solution that NextGen uses to give a slick transition to your photos without having to reload the page.

I do know that a jQueary solution (using jQuery Cycle which is easier to syle via CSS) is in the works but I am not sure when that will happen.
