I’m just replicating my old site from a wp. com to a self hosted. org one and the Singl theme is missing a bunch of features like the ability to change fonts or colours. The “subscription form” box is there to be ticked but it just doesn’t show. Is that a compatibility issue with WordPress 6? Or a self hosting thing?

My site is currently private so haven’t shared link

  • Hi @nofuncle, the subscription form likely uses Jetpack on WordPress.com. Can you install that plugin and connect it, then update us here if the form doesn’t show up?

The font and legacy color customizer features you’re asking about are indeed WordPress.com-hosted features, but you may be able to find plugins that have similar functionality.

thanks @supernovia font and color I’ve managed to find a work around….easy google font plug in and for the color I was only able to find a css editor to do that for me.

I see on my old account that I did indeed have jetpack, however once I’ve installed that plug in and connected it (even connecting the suggested creative mail) I still get nothing. Creative mail does give me the option to add a subscription in the form of a block but that is no where near as neat looking as the subscription bar right at the footer of Singl.

I tried ticking/un-ticking the ‘subscribe form’ box in the ‘theme options’ tab in customize but still nothing

ok, there’s a couple of threads a little way down this forum that mention the same thing with the subscribe/jetpack issue that I’m having. Seems like I have no need for extra css. I’ve now got it coming up. Looking a bit different to how it was but I’m also using SiteOrigin CSS Plug in so I could slightly correct some things.

would just be an awful lot easier if the .com hosted features were included in the self-hosted singl theme! oh well….slowly getting there with various plug-ins and lots of extra CSS!

ok…my site is now live but I’ve noticed that the subscription form doesn’t adjust when in mobile view? it stays full size and you have to scroll right. all the way to the right even though the rest of the site has adjusted into mobile view

    doesn’t seem right?

What is the URL of your site so we can take a look?

Also you may want to ask about this in the Jetpack forums. It can be the case that the embed being added to the theme is not working correctly, and that is not something we’d be able to solve. Can’t hurt to ask here and see if they have any ideas:

that’s a good point about jetpack….forgot it was part of that plug-in!

You may need to point out where your subscription form is located. I checked around but did not see it on the site. Thanks for the additional info!

yeah….I asked in the jetpack forum and whilst I only got a semi answer (it needs some extra coding) I’ve taken it off until I can find out how to either reduce the size from 750px width or (hopefully) get it to change size depending on what platform you are viewing from….it’s off site until I can sort it

I’ve temporarily put the sub form back there for you to see. I’d prefer to make the form auto adjust size depending on what device it’s viewed on rather than just change the overall size….just need to see how to do that

ok…after a little tweaking with site origin custom css…..I think I’ve sorted it now!
