• Hello,

I’m trying to move my WordPress blog which is located at a directory on my server to another directory.

I’ve tried the guide found here:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_Within_Your_Site

But when I get to steps 4 and 5, when I try to “save settings”, I get a Not Found page, which is already pointing to the new directory I specified.

So I press the Back button on my browser and move all the files to the new directory. I access the site and it works but the some URLs are still directed to the old path, some images are missing. I tried viewing Tamba2’s guide but I just got even more confused.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank You.

If you’re referring to permalinks, try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

If you’re referring to links in posts and pages, these will have to be changed manually.

    some images are missing

If you’re referring to images in posts that were uploaded via WP’s uploader, ensure that “Store uploads in this folder” at Settings/Media in your admin panel is correct and re-save (even if it hasn’t changed). Unfortunately, most images will probably have to be changed manually.

    Thank you for the response.

As to doing things manually for the pages/images, where and which file(s) should I edit manually?

    =)

You will need to edit each Post and Page that contains images.
