updated posts titles on the “welcome” page

    On the index.php file, I want to have so-called what’s new section above some static contents like below…

    What’s New
    > sample one added (mm/dd/yy)
    > sample two added (mm/dd/yy)

    I’ve been trying to find the tags to enable this, and found that if I use the permalink and the_titlte tags, I am able to show it like this, but without the updated date information on each end.

    I wonder if this is the right way of doing this as I have no experience with php codings.

    And one request is that I want to put some small image to head part of the updated titles listed at What’s New section. How can I make it work?

    I found a topic…but the reference posted on that link was dead. Even the great amount of information in codex, it is yet difficult for non developers to figure out the tags and their usages.

    Can you provide more detail on what you’re asking for? You say you want to add a “what’s new” section to static content. First, where is this appearing on your page? Second, what us this ‘static’ content — posts or Pages in WordPress, or actual physical documents?

    If you can provide a link to the Codex page this information you mentioned was on, that might also help in deciphering what you’re attempting.

    I wan to show the latest 5 posts’ titles with its posted time on the welcome page. I can’t find the tag to do this. And I think, this can also be done by RSS but I have no idea how.

    I am having a similar problem. I want WP to output a list of the titles of the last 10 posts I’ve made in the sidebar. Is there a template tag to accomplish this, or am I going to have to do it manually somehow?
