  • Hi @andymunrow thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you’re having issues with your media loading in the Web Stories editor. This could be a CORS related issue which you can find more information on here.

Could you please share the following information which will help us to determine the cause of this:

    1. Your Site Health Information which you can share privately using this form. Please make sure to share your hosting provider here too.
    2. Do you see any console errors when trying to load the media?

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

I have shared my Site Health Information

by the way, whenever I am editing a web story for the past 2 days my browser is suddenly using 100% of my CPU

here is the image of my console

@andymunrow Thank you for sharing the information and the screenshot. Could you please try a couple of things and let me know the outcome:

    1. Accessing the Web Stories editor from an incognito browsing window.
    2. Try running through the steps in our troubleshooting guide to see if this could be caused by a conflict with a theme or plugin.

We have seen instances in the past also where media was not loading in the editor due to there being media items with 0 width or height, which causes the layout mechanism to break. You can find out more on this here. If you could also check through your media items to ensure that this isn’t the case that would be helpful.

i just tried everything but nothing helps the problem still there

@andymunrow Thanks for confirming. Could I please ask who you hosting provider is? Would it also be possible for you to create a fresh new WordPress site with just the Web Stories plugin installed and see if you get the same issue. If you can’t do this then no problem at all.

Was your media loading in the editor previously or has this been happening since you first started using Web Stories?

I am using hostinger as my hosting provider

this media loading problem started just a few days ago it was fine before

@andymunrow Thanks for confirming your hosting provider. I would also recommend reaching out to your host if you haven’t already who may be able to spot something on their side that could be causing this.

Is there anything you can think of that may have changed or any updates you made around the time that this issue started happening?

In the screenshot you provided there is reference to a file called classic.js which is not coming from the Web Stories plugin so if you can track down where this is coming from it may indicate where the issue is.

I am also facing the same issue with my site- https://amirniveshak.com/
previously it was working fine, is there any way to downgrade this plugin?

The console log is as following-

@ash06 Thanks for letting us know. If you could open your own support topic then we will happily assist you there.

If you wish to downgrade to an older version of the plugin you can go to https://github.com/GoogleForCreators/web-stories-wp/releases and download the web-stories.zip file for the version you want to use. You then need to upload that to the plugins section of your site. If that does clear the issue then please let me know via your new topic as this would be great for us to know.

downgrading is not working as well

and i did contacted my hosting provider(hostinger) they said they are looking into it but thay didnt know why is this happining

@andymunrow Thanks for the update. I will discuss this with the team and get back to you as soon as I have an update to give.

    any updates would be appreciated

    Thank You

@andymunrow Thanks for your patience. Could I please ask you try temporarily deactivate your Rank Math SEO plugin which I can see you have active on your site.

Once deactivated could you please check to see if you can see your media once more in your Web Stories editor?

As we have not received a response, we will mark this topic as resolved. Please feel free to reach out if you encounter any other issues or questions. Thank you!
