WP 3 install complete, website works but can't login to WP admin
-
I’ve been working with WP for a couple of years now so I am in no way a newbie to it and I love it. I am right now working on a website on a freshly made domain and have installed wordpress 3.0 without any problems.
Someone else made the database for me so I used the information they gave me and still no problem at all. The install as promised worked in five minutes (or even less).
The link to the standard blog page also looks fine and works as far as a fresh install can work of course. It shows the welcome post, comments and usual links. So nothing strange their either.
However when I try to login to the wp-admin I can see the logon screen but when I login I get a error page with the following message.
Method Not Implemented
GET to /wp-login.php not supported.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I have tried to find a solution on the dutch and international forum but so far I have not been able to find what causes this problem.
I have however found out in the meantime that my phpMyAdmin gives me a message as well (I have translated this message from dutch);
The mbstring PHP extension hasn’t been found en it looks like the multibyte characterset is being used. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin possibly can’t split correctly, which could lead to unforseen results.
But since my knowledge about databases is minimal I have no idea if these two things are related.
Someone on the dutch forum suggested that I should add,
<IfModule mod_security.c> SecFilterEngine Off SecFilterScanPOST Off </IfModule>
to the .htaccess file but that didn’t change a thing.
I would appreciate all the help I can get because I am really out of ideas at this point. I hope that it is something I can fix from my side.
