    Good day to you!

I got the latest Gutenberg plugin update today and unfortunately it had added an unexpected left and right padding/margin to the whole site (the latest available update of WordPress 6).

First, I thought that is theme (I use Twenty Twenty-Two theme) issue, but now I’m convinced that everything is because of the update of the Gutenberg plugin. So, here’s and updated description.

So, starting right after the upgrade of the Gutenberg, Every page of my site got a left and a right padding/margin even for elements, that was set to full width.

    https://snipboard.io/lI37Pe.jpg
    https://snipboard.io/GqjdOs.jpg

As we can see in a console, the main reason for that —?two css files: one for margin of a navigation element (https://snipboard.io/L02Tp5.jpg) and the second is for a padding for the rest of the page (https://snipboard.io/4KSXRF.jpg)

If I temporary disable the paddings — that will stick eliminate left and right paddings — BUT(!) it will also sticks to the edges elements that have max width 1000px or there own paddings!

And it will also make navigation to be partly out of a viewport, but we can bring it back by disabling two margins

But as I mentioned before, that doesn’t solve the issue, since manually disabling those padding will also stick to edges those elements, that are shouldn’t.

Could you please help me with this issue?

  • Hi @goutm! We might be able to re-adjust the width for “wide” blocks after removing the margins. Could you share a link to your site so we can take a direct look?

    Thank you!

Dear @mrfoxtalbot ! Thank you for you proposal. Today I’ve restored my site from the backup and made a screen recording about the issue:

Now I restored my site once again and I suggest to wait for a reply of developers — who knows what else could be broken down after this upgrade.

Dear @zoonini, since you post info regarding bugs on github —?can you please look into this?

    Hi @goutm.

I am seeing this other thread from you that appears to discussing the same topic.

I am going to go ahead and close this one to avoid duplication, we can continue the conversation in the other one. If the two issues are unrelated, please let me know and we can keep them both open.

For future support requests, please avoid double posting whenever possible.

    Thank you!

    Dear @mrfoxtalbot

    That’s ridiculous.

As I mentioned in the first message, when I started the topic, first I was thinking that the problem was in the theme. But after some time and tests I’ve understood, that the issue is plugin update related. And that was the reason that I posted a way more detailed description of the issue here.

That’s not double posting. And I’m truly sad that you don’t understand that.

    Considering issue solved? Fine.

@goutm Let’s please try to stay polite with all the volunteers helping out in this forum.

This does look like a bug that affects only some themes; you can follow the issue here:

    https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/42604

I’m going to close this issue so we can keep all the discussion on the other one.
