    Hi,

This has become a recurring issue of late and we’re not sure why.

We sell knitting patterns as download .PDF files. Sometimes these patterns need updated, so we rename them Version 1, Version 2, Version 3 etc.. and update the product listing with the most up-to-date file.

Over the weekend, 2 customers have purchased a downloadable product, in which the .PDF they received was an old out-of-date version (Version 2) even though the product has been updated recently with the newest file (Version 3)

Can anyone understand why this may be happening?

    Many thanks,
    Stefan

  • Hi @stefanthefibreco

I understand that recently a couple of customers got old versions of the downloadable PDF and not the latest uploaded version.

As a first step I would recommend ruling out caching issues. The link to an old version could have been served from server cache.

Please check whether you have a caching plugin and then purge all cache from it. Next, you’ll want to configure the plugin not to cache the cart, checkout, and My Account pages. Here’s a helpful guide – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/configuring-caching-plugins/

If you do not have a caching plugin, check if your host is doing any sort of caching and ask them to disable it.

Here’s a step-by-step guide about clearing cache that you may find helpful: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/

If the issue persists after trying the above, please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
