    hi,

I would like to create a filter for the attribute colour. My main issue is that products are imported automatically from different suppliers that use different naming conventions, including attributes. For example:

Product A from Supplier A has 3 colour attributes that are named as per model identifier: A1, A2, A3

Product B from Supplier B has 3 colour attributes that are named with model identifier: B1, B2, B3

    However both:

    – A1 and B1 are brown
    – A2 and B2 are black
    – A3 and B3 are white

I would like to be able to in some way keep the model identifier on the attribute thumbnail in the product page, but assign the colours as required to the different products attributes and have a “brown, black, white” in the filter.

The closest plugin I found that does this is yith product filter, however unfortunley it doesn’t merge the common labels into one.

PS: I cannot edit the slug since this is required for product sync/updates. Name is fine, however if I change that it also changes the tool tip on the thumbnail on the product page.

    thank you

  • Hello,

This can not be done out of the box. You may however be able to achieve this by using a plugin like below:

    https://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-group-attributes/15467980
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wupo-group-attributes/

    I hope it helps!

    hi,

    thanks for your reply.

The wupo one doesn’t meet my needs after testing as it takes the entire current attribute.

However the first link might actually do the trick. Will need to test it.

    will provide update once tested.

    thanks

so actually both are quite gd.

having said that I might have explained myself incorrectly. Sorry quite new to this.

The grouping I need is for the terms inside the attribute (i think those would be the variations?)

So something like the plugins provided but with the ability to extract the terms in different groups uploaded an image to be a bit more clear: https://imgur.com/OURws4H

id like to extract those terms in a group of actual colours.

Not sure if a plugin for this exist, didn’t find anything but i might be using the wrong terms when searching.

    thanks

actually never mind, I think I got the gist of this.

created a new attribute with the correct terms -> inside the product page under attribute, I added the new attribute and ticked “assign to variation” -> added the colour to the variation -> calling the new attribute in the product filter.

    seems to work fine.

    thanks
