    Hello!

Thanks for a stellar plugin. I am investigating whether it will be feasible to migrate a very large gallery from Coppermine to WordPress using NextGen. As our site has many tens or hundreds of thousands of files on the server above the /wp-content directory (in mydomain.com/gallery/), I am wondering if there is any way to convince NextGen’s “Import from Folder” to use these existing directories — rather than moving everything over to /wp-content/gallery/.

Since Coppermine stores the original, resized, and thumbnail versions of an uploaded image in the same directory, I am also hoping someone might have ideas for how to import files in a target directory while ignoring “normal_*.*” and “thumb_*.*”

Presumably there isn’t anything built into NextGen itself that allows for this kind of granular control. But I thought I would ask in case anyone has experience migrating from Coppermine or similar gallery software.

    Thank you!

    Hi @darren_s,

You are correct. NextGen can import all of the images from a specific folder but that’ll also include the thumbs and the other variations that your previous gallery tool may have created.

Just as an idea – you can try to consult a system administrator specialist to ask what’d be the easiest solution for your case that’d allow bulk removing all of the files containing "thumb_" keyword ( for example ) within the filenames throughout all of your gallery folders.

Thanks for the swift reply. I figured as much. Since we have to worry about ignoring those files anyway, I’ll speak with my sysop about just moving everything else to /wp-content/gallery/.
