    Hello @generosus,

    Thank you for the feedback.

As mentioned in the quoted forum thread, we are following the trends closely and once we decide, we will implement the compression into the SiteGround Optimizer plugin. I have also informed our developers for your request so they can be aware of the increased interest in the AVIF file format.

    Best Regards,

    Hi @demiro,

Thank you. Hopefully, your developers will read this post and take action.

AVIF is now supported by Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Netflix. More companies plan to join this year.

I plan to closely monitor this topic.

    Hi @demiro (et al),

    Final Tip:

Not promoting, but this five-star plugin already offers AVIF conversion.

There’s enough support from the community, Fortune 100 companies, developers, and major browsers to justify adding the AVIF conversion feature to you plugin ??

    Hello @generosus,

Our developers looked into the request. Due to its current adoption rate, we won’t be adding the AVIF format to SG-Optimiser for now.

We will continue to monitor it and consider adding it once its adoption increases.

    Hi @pdosev,

Thank you for the follow up.

With all due respect, your developers need to revisit their analysis.

The current adoption rate (by total number of browsers that support AVIF and market share) is around 96%.

I’ll let you guys do the math.

    Baseline Data:

    Browsers Supporting AVIF: https://caniuse.com/avif
    Browser Market Share Worldwide: https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-share

A well-written business case can justify implementing AVIF into both your plugin and CDN. Now ??

Thank you for your feedback @generosus,

I can assure you that our developers are always exploring new options to be implemented in our plugin based on demand and adoption rate.

As soon as we have any movement in implementing AVIF we will notify the plugin users.

    Best regards,
    Georgi
