Related Products not showing items from Primary Category first

I understand that you want the primary category to be given the priority for selection of related products.

In WooCommerce settings there is no way to set that as a preference. In your case less relevant products are showing up because they do match the assigned categories.

Two things that can be done in this regard:

1. You can consider removing unrelated or less required categories from the products. I understand each product has been assigned many categories.

2. You can put tags to use, if not doing already. Tags and categories are two things that determine the selection of related products. You can read more here: https://woocommerce.com/document/related-products-up-sells-and-cross-sells/#section-3

Alternatively, you can also use plugins like:

I agree that this would be a very logical way to handle Related Products and I was surprised that WooCommerce doesn’t currently prioritize primary categories until I realized that the primary category feature is added by a third-party plugin such as RankMath or Yoast.
