Hi, I have problem with content of pages meta descriptions. In the Search Appearance – Content Types section, I have the Page content variable selected for the description. But in the preview I see a piece of code in the description, which is also displayed in a Google search. I’m using the latest version of the AIO SEO plugin.

    Example:
    [fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” link=”” target=”_self” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” hover_type=”none” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid”

  • Hi @julien24,

Thanks for reaching out and bringing this to our attention!

Please follow the steps below to help me in the investigation:

    1. Open that page in your WordPress Editor.
    2. Find “AIOSEO Settings” metabox.
    3. Take a screenshot of that section.
    4. Share it with me

I’m looking forward to your response.

    Thanks!

    Hi @julien24,

We have a setting called “Run Shortcodes” in All in One SEO that lets you control whether AIOSEO should parse shortcodes in your content. The setting can be found under Search Appearance > Advanced and is disabled by default for new users.

You’ll need to turn that toggle on if you want AIOSEO to parse these shortcodes while generating a meta description for your Posts/Pages.

We have also covered this in our documentation here –
    https://aioseo.com/docs/running-shortcodes/

Please note that you’ll still see these shortcodes in the Snippet Preview, but they will be parsed inside the source code of your Post/Page where we output the actual meta description.

So you’ll need to check the source code of your page once you’ve enabled that option. You can also let us know and we can confirm if the shortcodes are being parsed.

I highly recommend using a custom meta description for each and every Post/Page because Google prefers organic data over automatically generated content.
