I am working with the Intrace theme, which is really good by the way ?? But I need to hide the default main menu on mobile devices. In other words I don’t want the default main menu to become the mobile menu.

I am using a plugin for mobile because it works better. You can see this at the top left of the screen when viewed on a mobile device such as the iPhone XS.
It closes on clicking a link instead of hiding the whole site which the default menu does.

So is there a way to disable the default main nenu for mobile devices and just leave the one generated by the plugin at the top left?

    Thanks

  • I’m sorry I can’t help your question but I too am curious!

What plugin is it for the mobile menu?

I figured it out. Not sure if there’s an easier way or not. Here’s what I did:
    – Browse to the the Front Page while in edit mode
    – Shrink your browser window until you see the Hamburger Menu show up and then click on it
    – Within the block settings menu (right-hand side) scroll down to “Display” and then toggle on the option “Hide on mobile” and “Hide on tablet”

You can do that for anything else that may shows up that you don’t want but good luck making the hero image in the header look nicely across mobile and desktop lol

Thanks for the info. For some reason that does not work for me. I don’t get the menu on the right hand side that shows the “display on mobile” option. The only thing I get is an option to show the overlay menu. I can turn that off but then when on mobile the page shows the normal menu, which just about fits on the screen and works but this doesn’t feel right for viewing on mobile.

Perhaps it is the browser I am using (Firefox). I will try again using Chrome.

The plugin I am using for the mobile menu is called “Mobile Menu” and it is by Freshlight Lab.

    Hi @thevp1 ,

After we checked your site, it seems you’re still using our core template for navigation menu. WordPress default blocks doesn’t have much advanced options.

What @undercovernerd1 mentioned was our advanced block named “Gutenverse Nav Menu”. It has an option to hide the block on desktop, tablet, or mobile.

Also regarding mobile menu drawer close on click, we’ve actually added this feature to our block “Gutenverse Nav Menu” in our latest version 1.3.1.
You can check it on our Intrace demo here : https://gutenverse.com/demo?name=intrace

Let us know if you still have any question.

    Thank you.

Thanks. I didn’t realise that the menu block was not the Gutenverse one! I can not hide the menu on mobile and use my plugin.

I did try the Gutenverse mobile menu but it looks a bit too big and blocky. I altered the size etc but it still seemed to large. Also I could not see the menu items. When clicking the hamberger icon, the menu slides out from the right but it is just a big white space. I know the links are there because I can click on them even though I cannot see them. And yes the menu does now close on click. Thanks for doing that.

    Hi @thevp1 ,

Perhaps the menu item’s color is white?
You can adjust the color on tablet and mobile using the control, check this screenshot for reference : https://prnt.sc/mHkVzxo9qzzV
It’s alright if our mobile menu doesn’t suit your site needs.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

I am having the same problem. My understanding was that once widgets were in place in the Left Sidebar that they would override the defaults. However, the Primary Menu continues to display above the other widgets. How do I disable this? This is all in desktop view. Thanks.

    Hello @drgrahamwilson

Could you send me a screenshot of the issue?
(You could use public image sharing sites and send the link here)
Or do you have any live site I could check?

    Thank you.
