• Hey all,

Sorry I’m new to WP but I have good knowledge of internet/hosting/html.

Typically when you build a website, you use an editor and you just create it locally on your own PC, which is great. When you’re ready, you just upload the files and voila. I’m not sure how to do this with WP.

Got a great domain, installed WP and theme just fine. But I’m having a bit more issues that I expected setting up the theme, so the site looks broken and unfinished, and I dont want that.

I tried to upload it in another folder than the root but it breaks the links and I dont want to build it all up to have to change them all after (unless it’s a one click affair and it fixes all the permalinks in one shot?).

    Thanks for your help guys,

    / Jeff

Hey guys, thanks for the quick response.

A dummy index.html is a good idea, but yeah they’re not small changes, but ill see, maybe it’ll work just fine for me ??

@songdogtech: I’ll give it a try. Is it pretty reliable? How does it work? (let me go and install it ..)

I guess my question becomes: When im done with the plugin, I can just delete it and im done? I def. don’t want any problems with SEO after I’m done and have worked so hard lol

Read the docs to the plugin. It also can block news feeds. Use it and then deactivate it. Set your privacy settings in WP to block bots.

With a static index.html, you will have SEO problems if you allow the site to be indexed without a blocking robots.txt file and then will need a 301 redirect.
