Post Grid – Pages/Posts with visibility “Private” not showing

I’m trying to add some html through the action hooks to the post grid depending on whether the post/page is accessible for everyone or only the logged in users. While I was trying to figure out what I needed to write in the hook, I realized that pages and posts with the visibility “Private” are not shown with the post grid, no matter that type of ordering used. Is there any setting that would allow me to include private posts in the post grid or is there any reason as to why they’re not showing up?
