After the update to 6.0, the Blog Loop extension no longer works. I still have the setting available. But the events are no longer displayed in the frontend in the blog view.

All events are migrated. Neither before nor after migration they are displayed in the blog.

  • Hey @webmaik

You are right! Our team is working on a fix for this.
We’ll report back here once it’s out.

In the meantime, the only workaround would be reversing the migration and downgrading to the last version before 6.0.

    Hang it there!

    Hello @geoffbel

Thank you very much for your feedback. Glad to hear that a solution is being worked on and you are reporting it here.

Don’t worry, I only upgraded to version 6.0 on the developer environment. I will upgrade the live environment only once the fix is there.

Have a nice day and best regards
    Maik

Hi @webmaik, apologies for the delay here as we’re experiencing a higher load in support.

Good to know. We also recommend setting up a staging server and testing out the updates on it before implementing it to the main website.

Could you try updating to the latest version of the plugin and see if the issue still persists? We recently released a fix in regard to the migration issues. https://theeventscalendar.com/known-issues/#dl_migration-errors

Let me know how it goes.

    Best,
    Abz

    Hello @abz

I have just tried it on the staging server.

Unfortunately it does not work. Now it always shows me an error when migrating the events:

Die Veranstaltung Weihnachtsfeier hat einen Fehler verursacht: [TECEventsCustom_TablesV1ModelsEvent implements the Serializable interface, which is deprecated. Implement __serialize() and __unserialize() instead (or in addition, if support for old PHP versions is necessary)]. Bitte versuche es erneut oder sieh Dir unsere Problembehandlung Tipps an.

Also, new events do not make it into the Blog Loop.

    best regards

    Hi @webmaik,

I see. Appreciate you sharing the warning here. It seems like you’re using PHP v8.x.x, which means that __serialize() and __unserialize(), are already deprecated. Could you try downgrading to PHP v8.0? Then retry the migration?

As always, to be safe, we highly recommend testing this on a staging site first before implementing it on your main website.

Let me know how it goes.

    Best,
    Abz

    Hi @abz

As suggested, I downgraded the system to PHP 8.0. I deleted all previous data, installed a backup and gradually updated the plug-ins.

When I migrated the events, I no longer got an error message. However, no events are visible in the blog loop. Not even newly created ones.

“Integrate events in Blog Loop” is also activated in the settings.

    Best regards

Hi @webmaik, sorry to hear about this. This is a bug that we’re fixing at the moment, we already created an internal bug ticket for this, and I have added your case to it. Thanks for all the details, I will definitely pass it along to our devs.

I am unable to provide an exact date or time estimate for when this bug will be fixed, but you’ll be notified when there are any updates.

For now, the only workaround is to reverse the migration and downgrading to the last version before 6.0.

Appreciate your patience. If you do have other concerns or issues you need help with, please create another ticket, as it helps us track different issues.

Again, thank you for your patience.

    Cheers,
    Abz

Hi @webmaik, apologies for the delay here. We have released a couple of fixes regarding another bug that is somehow related to this issue. Could you try updating to v6.0.3 or v6.0.4? See if that also fixes the issue you’re having.

    Please keep me posted.

    Best,
    Abz
