Group Leaders Assign Courses

    We are currently using LearnDash + Uncanny/Tincanny plugins to a good degree of success.

    We have a major client who wishes to have a group with ‘many’ courses in a group, but then have Group Leaders choose and select (assign) courses from within that group to assign to individual students. For instance, we have a group with 150 courses that our client really only wants to have 1 or 2 courses of the 150 courses completed by most of its students. So the students must scroll thru 150 courses looking for the 1 or 2 courses they need to complete – to make things worse, many courses have similar names (but differing CEU values).

    Is there anyway, with the plugins we have available and already installed (almost ALL of them) by which we could accomplish this? Is there another plugin we could install that would enable Group Leader to ‘assign’ specific courses within a group?

    Thanks for the kind words about our plugins! It’s great that they’re working out well for you.

    What you outlined above definitely isn’t something that would fall under the scope of our Toolkit.

    Right now the model you describe is one we sometimes see but it inevitably requires some custom development, typically to decouple mappings from a group from being used both for reporting scope AND course access. No public plugin currently supports this.

    There are potentially some workarounds, like:
    – creating 150 groups, each with 1 group, and then managing students within those groups
    – using something related to our Magic Button in Uncanny Automator to add/remove users from individual courses/groups, though you’d be looking at 150 recipes then to accomplish what you want.

    Sorry about that. Otherwise, unfortunately, our plugins couldn’t really help here.

    Have you figured our a way to do this without having to create recipes? A plugin or custom code?

    If not, could you give me the exact recipe that would allow Group leaders to add/remove users from courses?

    Question: I am using LearnDash and Have added group leaders. However, these group leaders have been unable to add their own users to their groups. Is there a reason why? Can only administrators add users?

    Hi @dpetrovia , just a note that we don’t normally see responses to closed threads and this doesn’t seem to be related to our Toolkit plugin. We are not affiliated with LearnDash and this seems like a question better directed to their support team.
