Recently I’ve started having trouble when trying to add new attributes to existing listings. The attributes are saved, but when I try and create new variations from them, the attribute doesn’t show in the drop-down menu for me to choose it.

So I tried creating a brand new product from scratch, with 2 attributes, one with 6 values, and one with 3. It only generated 2 variations, based and 2 values from the first attribute, snd 1 from the 2nd attribute.

  • Hi @tanyaluke12,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Please make sure that the ‘Used for Variations’ checkbox is checked in your Attributes > Custom product attribute name and all the values within each attribute are separated by ‘|’.
If possible, could you also share a screenshot of your Attributes and Variations settings? You can upload the screenshot on https://snipboard.io tool and share the URL here.

Additionally, please follow these steps to determine if there is a theme/plugin conflict:

    1. Switch your theme to Storefront.
    2. Disable all plugins except WooCommerce.
    3. Perform the action that causes the issue.

If variations work as expected after switching to Storefront theme and deactivating all other plugins except WooCommerce, the problem may be with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your plugins one by one, testing after each reactivation until you find the one causing the issue.

If the issue persists despite following the above steps, kindly share the following information:

    1. System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
    2. Fatal Error Log: A copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if available).

    I hope this helps!
