FEATURE REQUEST: Adding GPS to EXIF

    reSmush.it is an awesome tool – shrinking images is huge for SEO and user experience.

    Recently the feature to ‘preserve EXIF’ was added. Now that reSmush.it can write EXIF to the newly smushed images, I imagine it would be a small addition to write new GPS coordinates.

    You may not know this, but GPS coordinates is a signal Google uses when building relevance for businesses – and the technical ability for a graphic designer to update the EXIF GPS coordinates on images is very little.

    This would be a significant feature for the tool and put it ahead of all the rest of the Image Smushing tools.

    Not sure I understand your request. Currently, the plugin allows to throw or preserve ALL EXIF data (including GPS), as EXIF data aren’t necessarly used, and it takes additionnal space on image sizes.

    You want an option to erase all EXIF except GPS coordinates ?

    Not quite. I do not want to interfere with the other EXIF data.
    What I want is an option to add GPS coordinates to images that do not have GPS coordinates.

    Ok clearer to me. We think that it’s not part of the plugin to allow the user to edit GPS coordinates on pictures. You should browse among the WP plugins, you should find a way to edit EXIF data, and then place GPS coordinates.

    The main role of the plugin is to optimize pictures, and we’d like to preserve this unique feature.
