• Hi

I have to clone a WordPress site (site1) hosted in a private hosting company (shared hosting server) to an already running Automattic WordPress.com site running with a custom domain (site2)

The goal is to have both sites with same look and same functionality

Site1 (origin) has the following plugins (some of them commercial) installed

    Amelia lite
    Contact Form 7
    Custom Field Suite
    Duplicator
    Head, Footer and Post Injections
    iThemes Security
    Leaflet Map
    Metronet Tag Manager
    Post Duplicator
    Really Simple SSL
    Unyson
    WordPress Importer
    WP Go Maps
    WP Google Maps
    WP Mail SMTP
    WP Reset
    WPBakery Page Builder

I don’t know if site2 has any plugin installed but I’ve read that wordpress.com paid plan allows to use plugins available from www.ads-software.com

I wonder if this could be possible to do in some way, but I think I’ll have some trouble with uploading custom plugins, right?

What would you recommend me to do?

Should I move site2 from Automattic to a private hosting and then to clone using 3rdparty plugin?

Thanks a lot for any tip you can give me

  • I’ll try my best to answer your questions as best I can, but please understand that your questions should really be directed at the WordPress.com support team since the questions relate to features and functionality available on their platform.

    Here’s their support form: https://wordpress.com/forums/

I don’t know if site2 has any plugin installed but I’ve read that wordpress.com paid plan allows to use plugins available from www.ads-software.com

Users on their BUSINESS and E-COMMERCE plans can install any WordPress theme or plugin, whether from www.ads-software.com, a commercial product, or even your own custom-developed theme or plugin. See their plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

I wonder if this could be possible to do in some way, but I think I’ll have some trouble with uploading custom plugins, right?

See above. If you have their BUSINESS or E-COMMERCE plan, you can install any pro or custom theme or plugin by uploading a zip file, just as you do with your own self-hosted (aka www.ads-software.com) site.

Additionally, these plans come with SFTP, SSH, WP-CLI, and Database access.

Should I move site2 from Automattic to a private hosting and then to clone using 3rdparty plugin?

I don’t really get your point. But I believe with the clarification given above, you should be able to make an informed decision.

Also, please head over to the WordPress.com forum and get a definitive answer from the WordPress.com support staff.

    Good luck!
