• We have used WP very happily for 2 years to manage our blog https://www.peteranne.it/wp. Our main non-blog web site was designed using MS Publisher with 35-odd pages in the English part and the index page giving you a link to either the site in English with a navigation bar with 8 tabs and some sub-pages below these 8 linked pages (sardinia climbing, sardinia walking etc) or the site in Italian (same structure, but less detailed).

Publisher is increasingly hard to manage, and we or looking at redoing our site. Someone suggested Joomla! as a CMS, but after reading around a bit, for sites which don’t use ecommerce or registered users, WP seems to be a good solution. We found an example not so different to our site https://www.flamanville.fr/

    My questions are:-
Is there a good theme for rebuilding our site in WP without having to modify the code of the theme?
Do you all think WP is a suitable product to do what we do?
If we use WP, we have to install a mySQL DB on our PC to “preview” the site, right? then upload the stuff to our ISP.

Thanks a million. If we can use WP with which we are very happy, it would be great. I read that WP 3.0.1 may have some features we can use.

    cheers Peter

Many Great themes are available – the default 2010 theme is very flexible in that you can change the masthead image and background without coding. Or look at the other free themes at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/

    Yes definitely!

If you want to develop locally, yes – something like XAMPP will be easiest.
