In the past months all our administrators reported problems logging in using 2FA, for all of our web sites (more than 10 sites) that use Wordfence. What happens is the user enters the username and password, then enters the 2FA code, and then they are redirected to the login page with a message that the username or password are incorrect. We can bypass the 2FA and log in successfully by renaming the plugin directory, logging in, and renaming back.
We keep Wordfence updated and this also happening with the latest version.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @odedstr2, thanks for getting in touch.

We had seen some cases of customers returned to the login page without any error message where hitting return worked successfully but hitting the Log In button didn’t work. This doesn’t necessarily look like that as you’re getting an error but may be worth a try.

Are you using any custom login pages/modal popups, or did 2FA fail on a default WordPress/WooCommerce (with WooCommerce integration enabled in Login Security > Settings) login page? Do you have reCAPTCHA enabled in addition to 2FA?

Some plugins and themes can cause conflicts, so it’d be good to know if this still occurs with Wordfence as the only enabled plugin on a default WordPress theme. Sometimes using a different browser to your default and an incognito/private browsing window will take other things out of the equation like browser plugins that could be causing issues on the page.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
