• Hi there. Recently (past month or so) the message “Age Gate: User Registration requires Age Gate 2.1.0 or higher” has appeared at the top of all admin pages on my website. This appears to be a warning rather than an error, with a red line prefix to the left.

My site shows a red (1) update marker in WordPress but when I go to the updates page, there is nothing to update. I have Version 0.2.1 of Age Gate Registration installed/active, and Version 3.0.9 of Age Gate itself.

In addition, my site error_log shows these repeating error lines:

[09-Sep-2022 01:03:39 UTC] PHP Warning: Undefined property: Age_Gate_User_Registration_WooCommerce::$messages in /home/ABC/public_html/wp-content/plugins/age-gate/public/partials/form/sections/input-day.php on line 2
[09-Sep-2022 01:03:39 UTC] PHP Warning: Attempt to read property "labels" on null in /home/ABC/public_html/wp-content/plugins/age-gate/public/partials/form/sections/input-day.php on line 2
[09-Sep-2022 01:03:39 UTC] PHP Warning: Attempt to read property "day" on null in /home/ABC/public_html/wp-content/plugins/age-gate/public/partials/form/sections/input-day.php on line 2

Maybe this is a separate issue?

If you can advise on these it would be appreciated.

There is now an additional message suggesting that the Age Gate Registration plugin needs updating (direct from the developer’s site).

The Registration plugin is here; agegate.io/addons/age-gate-user-registration – is it safe? I can only assume!?

    Hi @umdiecker,

The plugin only had about 200 users and stopped working with version 3 of age gate so the decision was made to take it down in favour of better integrations in future, but time so far hasn’t allowed that.

The version on the site is essentially the same plugin but refactored to work with age gate 3 and be a bit better structured, developed in response to this topic.

As for if its safe, I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking

    Thanks

Hi Phil – thanks for the clarification; that all makes sense. Relating to the safety of the plugin, my comment related to the fact that plugins have sometimes be pulled from availability in WordPress directly when no longer actively supported – with security issues a major concern these days, non-WordPress listed plugins and support expired has often rung alarm bells for individuals like myself who have had sites hacked via questionable or old/non-supported software. I appreciate your reply – it reassures me that there’s someone actively supporting this. Thank you.
