I saw many people change the theme name and change files in the theme. Like author name, copyright, and so on.

I like to use Twenty Twenty-Three. But, this theme needs a lot of modifications.

And Besides, I don’t like to show people which theme I’m using. (Not in WordPress detector either).

Is it permissible to modify, change and rename the theme and author so, people don’t get which theme I’m using?

  • Hi @sourov17!

You can certainly create your own forked version of Twenty Twenty-Three, give it a name of your choice and distribute this new version. That is in fact one of the four freedoms of free software:

The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others (freedom 3). By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

Would this make sense? Were you referring to this?
