I had to rename the plugin directory to get things working again. Can you let me know when there is a fix?

Hello I have the same problem. I think the last update has a bug.

Same problem here on WordPress 6.1.1

Seems to be a botched update – some files in composer directory are missing. Same here when running wp-cli.

Hello. I’m experiencing the same problem in my environment. I would appreciate any advice on how you all are dealing with this problem until the bug is fixed.

    @karaage23
I have renamed the folder of the plugin via FTP. So the page is now running again for now.

Hi. Same here. @karaage23, at the moment, the only way to fix this is to disable the plugin, for example renaming the folder of the plugin via FTP (or your hosting file manager). Or reverting to the previous version replacing the updated folder with the folder of the previous version.

Best course of action is to disable the plugin for now.
However, that might not be possible if WordPress admin panel is inaccessible.
If so, you could use wp cli command wp plugin deactivate backwpup --skip-plugins or rename the plugin directory wp-content/plugins/backwpup to, say wp-content/plugins/_backwpup via FTP or file manager of your web hosting.

FTP -> go to content/plugins to the folder backwpup -> change it to _backwpup -> website will be up again -> deactivate plugin in backend -> wait for update

    Happened to me also.
Just rollback to the previous version by using WP Rollback plugin and wait for the next update.

Tagging plugin developers to rise attention: @inpsyde, @bueltge, @dinamiko

I noticed they have just retired the update, now the latest version is 3.10.0. https://it.www.ads-software.com/plugins/backwpup

Hope they fix the bug with 4.0 soon.

    Hi there,
We really sorry about the issue happened with the free 4.0 version, there is something wrong during building the free package that lead to the issue.
We have reverted the plugin to the previous 3.10.0 version and will release the new free version in the next few days.
In case you got an issue, please remove the backwpup folder wp-content/plugins and then install the current version(3.10.0) again.
Thank you and we really sorry about the issue.
Download the latest 3.10.0 here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/backwpup/
