    I feel like what they have built is good. It does exactly what it says – sends one email (no-reply), gives you reports on emails sent, and you can change in what cases emails are sent.

    That’s all it does, though; for the price of the paid version, you would think it would do more. Out-of-the-box WordPress sends emails. Now you get more features and a few more improvements with this plugin, but overall it’s slightly pricey for providing not much more than what WordPress provides.

    If they would add extra emails, so you can create [email protected] or [email protected] – and you hook that up to like Outlook and have an inbox that’s pulling from storage on your website – now we are talking! All of a sudden, the plugin is worth its weight and more.

    I think that should be the next step from this company – sending only one email, and its a no-reply…WordPress does that out of the box – for free. Create a database or storage environment where you can create additional custom emails, and basically, your WordPress website becomes a custom email server…now we are talking!

    We’re happy to hear that you were able to set up your mailer of choice successfully, but I think there is a slight misunderstanding of the purpose of WP Mail SMTP.

    Purpose of WP Mail SMTP

    While we understand where your feature request is coming from, WP Mail SMTP is not intended to be an email provider with an inbox, replies, custom email creation etc. The main purpose is to help your site send emails more reliably in a lightweight fashion.

    WordPress does in fact allow you to send emails without the use of a mailer for free, the lite version of WP Mail SMTP also does this, but the difference is that you can fairly easily choose to have your emails authenticated and sent reliably to your recipients.

    If you were to use an email deliverability tool (like https://www.mail-tester.com/) to test your sent emails while using the default PHP mailer option, you would potentially end up with varying results and some emails may more than likely end up in your or your user’s spam folders. This is usually the case if your email sending volume is higher than the norm.

    But when your emails are authenticated, it will be very similar to you logging in to your email account and sending an email. In this way, you will have a much better chance of delivering your emails to the recipients without the email getting flagged as spam.

    In more technical terms, all of your website’s emails sent with the WordPress default wp_mail() function will be routed through your WP Mail SMTP-configured mailer.

    You mentioned potentially adding extra email addresses and a reply option, but generally speaking, WP Mail SMTP is a companion plugin where we specify a From email, but a contact form, newsletter or marketplace plugin for example would usually have the option for setting a Reply-to, CC or a different From Email so that you can manage your emails via your preferred inbox/email provider.

    Our Pro features go hand in hand with email deliverability monitoring and the list of Pro features are ever expanding so that emails are consistently sent and you can be aware if there are ever any disruptions.
