Re-ordering "next/previous post" links

Hey all. I have a featured post category which makes the post display at the top of the homepage in a special style. When you click the link you just goto the generic single page for that post. The only problem is that the “next post” and “previous post” links will link to any posts posted after the featured one as if they are the next post. Is there a way to force the featured post to the top of the post hierarchy so that every other post, regardless of when it was made will appear only under the “previous post link” of the featured post?
