Thanks for even looking out of curiosity at a 2.02 support request.

First I know…upgrade. This isn’t my install though. I am helping a site owner who finally is considering an upgrade from 2.02 to 3.x. Long road, fearful user.

The main concern they have is in their 2.02 install they allow anonymous posting of comments, but because of this they hold all comments for moderation. What they realized is that due to their high volume of return traffic, users who have had an approved/posted comment are able to see and comment on unmoderated/yet to be moderated comments. This causes issue as some comments should never be made public.

So the hope that I provided was that 3.x might solve this for them. (I tried this many times before and with no luck.) The problem has finally gotten to the point where push has come to shove.

So WP experts, historians, tinkerers…does anyone know if 3.x WILL actually solve this issue? Will unapproved comments truly be hidden to all users even though those with previously approved comments?

  • Dave Kaufman,

I am an admin using 3.01 and I can’t even see posts held for moderation. I’m not saying this is 100% accurate, just an observation.

Actually, I believe what you’re describing is a bug that was fixed long ago, probably in 2.1.

@doc4 – just to be clear comments not posts. In all the other installs I have done no one was allowing anonymous comments and holding them all for moderation

@james – thank you…that is great to hear.
