I recently subscribed to insight Monster, and AIOSEO was installed during the setup. I thought I’d try it, but I keep getting these errors:

We were unable to save the .htaccess file due to syntax errors. Please check the code below and try again.

It looks like you are missing the proper rewrite rules for the robots.txt file. It appears that your server is running on Apache, so the fix should be as simple as checking the correct .htaccess implementation on www.ads-software.com.

    Hi @abbottwp,

    Thanks for reaching out!

If possible, could you please share the htaccess rules you’re trying to add and the Apache Version of your site/server?

You can also share your “System Status” by going to All in One SEO > Tools > Systems Status, and “Email Debug Information” to support[at]aioseo.com.

You can also change the name of your .htaccess file and then go to the Settings ? Permalinks page and click on the ‘Save Changes’ button without changing anything.

WordPress will now try to generate the .htaccess file for you.

Once finished, refresh the dashboard to see if the errors have disappeared.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks!

    Hi @abbottwp,

We haven’t heard back from you in a couple of days. I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Thanks!

I didn’t try to add anything to either file. I was using the free version of Yoast previously, and when I upgraded to a paid Monster Insights account, AIOSEO was also installed. I had heard good things, so I decided to try it out. It immediately didn’t like the htaccess and robots files I have been using for a long time with Yoast – I have no idea what line(s) AIOSEO doesn’t like.

    I emailed the debug file.

    Hi @abbottwp,

Thanks for sharing the debug info!

I checked your site’s robots.txt file, and it appears to be fine.

Does clearing your cache (server, plugin/theme) and deactivating & reactivating the plugin resolve the issue? If you are unsure how to clear your server cache, then please contact your hosting provider.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!
