    Hi Alex,

how to upgrade from the old 1.8.1 to the new 1.45.0 widget bundle without loosing any content or predefined layouts in the database (multisite with subdomains)?

Deleting 1.8.1 an installing 1.45.0 only by FTP and not in the wordpress backend?

    Thanks,
    Sparen

    Hi Sparen

    Thanks for reaching out.

There aren’t any specific steps to follow to complete the above-mentioned upgrade. The Widgets Bundle database tables haven’t been changed, so there aren’t migration processes to be run. Running the upgrade in a staging environment first would be ideal. If that isn’t possible, it’s worth having a backup prepared.

    Hi Andrew,

maybe I misunderstood your explaination. My fear is, if widget bundle will delete about the backend, the database tables will delete too and any content or predefined layouts could be tempoarely lost (backup), because some plugins work in this way. If widget bundle database tables are still alive after deleting the plugin, all is fine!

    Thanks,

    Hi Sparen

Thanks for your reply. There is no impact on your content or layouts when upgrading any of our plugins. That said, when doing a big version upgrade, it’s best to make a site backup or restore point before doing the upgrade.

    Hi Andrew,

after update some layouts must be reviesed, but this seems to be normal when a 5 year old plugin is upgraded!

    Thanks,

    Sparen

    Hi Sparen

Thanks for the update. Ideally, there shouldn’t be any impact. If it’s something affecting many pages, please send an example, and we’ll try to assist with the investigation.
