Clarification on completed orders and order on hold mail

    Dear Team

    Thanks for your great plugin! I am a new user of woocommerce and am testing the store checkout page and mails. I have a clarification on the completed orders mail and order on hold mail.

    I am offering online courses which is a digital product – So I guess the completed orders mail will be inapplicable for me, right? When I did a test checkout, I noticed that only the processing order went out to the customer.

    When does the order on hold mail go out? I tried to enter my mail address in the checkout page and did not make the payment, but still no order on hold mail went. So I had to use an abandoned cart recovery plugin for sending out this specific reminder mail. I do not see the order on hold mail being sent to the customer at all. In which situation is it generally sent, and why is it not sent for my purpose?

    With digital orders, the order processing email is the one not applicable as digital products don’t need a packaging/shipping period. That said, once the payment is completed the user will receive a completed order email.

    The order on-hold email is sent when the user is paying with cash, a bank transfer or if the payment status has failed. Leaving items in the cart will not trigger the email, so the plugin you’re currently using is the recommended workaround. ??
