Wonderfully Simple, Clean and Easily Configurable
-
“Pages” is a wonderful theme. It is simple but visually attractive and flexible. The code and structure are clean and straightforward, without layers of convoluted code and jumbled features mucking things up. The theme was very easy to configure with the unique look and feel I needed for a fairly massive project that involved converting a static website to WordPress, and having it still look like a website rather than a blog. I have three more of these projects that I need to tackle in the coming month.
Recently, I mowed a huge pile of themes and I finally found one that I could use, but it required modifications not only to the style rules but various core files including header.php, footer.php, content.php and functions.php. So it will be a royal pain when a theme update is pushed through or it becomes obsolete and something breaks as the development of WordPress marches on.
“Pages” by Bryan Hadaway let me achieve the custom look I wanted purely through mods to the style.css file, and one change to functions.php (bust version numbers on the style.css file so cached versions would not prevent newer changes from loading). Thanks to the clean and simple design of this theme, it is possible to make significant changes in the layout quickly and easily, which was a fast cure to a big headache I was having.
If you are looking for a WordPress theme that is modern, clean, visually appealing, and that you can easily tweak to your heart’s content, I highly recommend Pages–and a big thanks to Bryan Hadaway for making this theme available to the WP community.
