Customer not receiving email notification emails with tracking code

Hello,
I have AST installed as well as TrackShip. We are currently testing the site so when I put in a fake UPS tracking code to a test order, the order status automatically updates to Shipped but the customer email that comes through is “Your order is now complete” instead of sending an email that the order has been shipped. There is no email being sent with the tracking code. Not sure if there is a setting we are missing? or the fact that we are using a fake tracking code which results in an “unknown” tracking error on TrackShip.
