    We host this site and are trying to set it up on Watchful so we can monitor the site and apply automatic backups. When trying to get a connection to the site Watchful gets the error:

    “code”: “rest_authentication_error”,
    “message”: “Sorry, you do not have permission to make REST API requests.”,
    “data”: {
    “status”: 401
    }

    I’ve tried every troubleshooting option in Watchful’s knowledgebase, checked htaccess files, and tried multiple steps from the troubleshooting FAQ’s from WordPress but still can’t get the site to connect. Any insight as to what could be blocking the REST API call would be helpful.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello,

    Sorry for delay reply, based on that error it appears that your WordPress website does not have REST API enabled, can you check and make sure you’ve enabled it ?

    Regards

    I have confirmed that my REST API is enabled. I downloaded the REST API Auth plugin and my site now seems to be able to connect to watchful. Thank you for the response.
