• Always problems with new versions.

Last version of this day the formatting of mails is broken.

And I never had a solution with the after-sales service, we were always given automatic answers from the same “human robot”, or answered that it came from elsewhere..

  • Do you using page caching, resource minification, object caching and/or PHP Opcache?

If so, purge all of the respective caches after updates and force your browser to reload everything when you test.

Also, share a sample URL where the problem can be seen, steps to recreate the issue, and any errors appearing in PHP logs or the browser console while you test.

Yes I am using this PHP Opcache caching.

But I purged well after the update and I still get the broken formatting in my mails, example below:

De?: essai Objet?: message depuis le site Alcor-controles Détail de la demande?: Type de bien : Terrain Nom & prénom ou société du demandeur : essai Adresse e-mail : [email protected] Adresse du site (et cadastre si connu) : essai Surface totale du site à compléter : Demande, observations : essai IP Client : 2axxxxxxxxxf8:1100:1085:fxxxxxx29:cbfb:xxxxx Cet email a été envoyé via le formulaire de contact de ALCOR Diagnostics (https://www.alcor-controles.fr) Form name: Demande devis rapide Page Form is on: https://www.alcor-controles.fr/diagnostic-pollution-des-sols-offre-6-sondages-inclus/ Invalid Fields: 0 Browser used by bot: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/109.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 Edg/109.0.1518.70 Devis ultra rapide right

Like many here, if I go back to the previous version of the plugin, everything works fine again…

No PHP server error when submitting the form, but maybe an error during installation:

Can you please confirm the following:

    1. You have selected the option Use HTML content type for the messages in question
    2. There is no code on your site that might be removing any relevant filters, such as wpautop, from being applied
    Thread Starter renaisonp

    (@renaisonp)

Yes that is correct for HTML mail.

No, no filter and everything has always worked well with Contactform for more than 10 years

Can you share the mail definition that results in the message you shared above?

Also, in your email program (where you received the message), can you confirm that the message is HTML, not text?

    Thread Starter renaisonp

    (@renaisonp)

Yes the message is in HTML,

With the previous version Version 5.7.2 everything works fine (after restore), see below, correct formatting. So the problem comes from version 5.7.3:

    De : essai

Objet : message depuis le site Alcor-controles

    Détail de la demande :

    Type de bien : Terrain

Nom & prénom ou société du demandeur : essai

    Adresse e-mail : XXXXXXX

Adresse du site (et cadastre si connu) : essai

Surface totale du site à compléter :

    Demande, observations :

    +1
    same issue here since 5.7.3

Helping you further requires more knowledge of the code and more access to your site, so I’ll leave it to @takayukister. You might want to try opening an issue on https://github.com/takayukister/contact-form-7/issues.

Tiny suggestion: when you post formatted message or code, use the Code block, instead of simply pasting. Do the same on GitHub, if you start an issue there. It makes things a lot clearer.

Final thought from me: I don’t have this issue on any of my sites, and I see relatively few reports about it from others, so you might want to try deactivating plugins and using a standard theme. Deactivate anything related to contact forms first, but if no luck, keep going.

Ideally, clone the live site, and use the copy, but if not, sacrificing a few minutes of site availability may be worth finding the solution and being able to keep your site up to date.

    See https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/hooks/wp_mail_content_type/ for another possibility

dst89 also have the same problem above. And many have problems since this 5.7.3 update

You’re lucky if you don’t have a problem with all of your sites.

Why does 5.7.2 and all previous versions work and 5.7.3 doesn’t?

The problem comes from the plugin which has modified its version, not from our site which has not changed and works again with 5.7.2

Same problem here with version 5.7.3

No breaks line with both html content type option checked and unchecked

Yes. But for those of us who has a problem with this… At least I don′t know how to make it correct again??

    Thread Starter renaisonp

    (@renaisonp)

You need to fix the 5.7.3 version

Finally… it worked for me when I put the </br> on a separate row.
Don′t know if this helps anyone else… ??

But I almost don′t dare to update the plugin on to all my sites yet.

    / Lena
