I’m getting recursive back-ups. I have free version. I chose “Dropbox” for remote storage. Why is Updraft saving to my host (Godaddy). How can I change this?

    Hi,

If you want to delete local backups, you can check “Delete local backup:” option from UpdraftPlus > Settings > Show expert settings. This will delete the local backups after the file is copied to your remote storage.

    Thanks,

Ok, so this will resolve the issue with back-ups being stored or saved to my hosting company’s servers?

It will stop new backups being stored on your server. However, you will still need to manually remove the old backups

Ok, I still see a ton of files stored on my hosting company’s servers on the “Updraft” folder. Approx 24Gigs!!

I need to delete this file. How do I do this safely?

I manually removed the back-ups from Feb. 5th and 6th. (UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore) tab.

    Thanks,

Also, I’m not receiving my email notifications for backup confirmation.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

The updraft folder is where your backups are stored before they are uploaded to your remote storage and where your logs are stored. If you delete this, the plugin will likely create the folder again.

Rather than delete the folder, can you just delete any backup files/logs within this folder that you no longer need?

Can you post a copy of your backup log so I can see if says anything about the email issue?

“Rather than delete the folder, can you just delete any backup files/logs within this folder that you no longer need?” That’s exactly what I did in WordPress admin panel and also in Godaddy’s CPanel. I probably should delete the folder in Godaddy’s CPanel either correct?

Unfortunately, Updraft is uploading way too many files each day to Godaddy’s web server. There’s no way to prevent the accumulation of all these files to their server? Why doesn’t the plug-in remove them each day? I don’t know if I’m going to be able to use this plugin if drives up the disk space usage to the point where I can’t even use my website.

Most of my Updraftplus back-ups are unsuccessful.

    Hi,

Your log is saying that you do not have enough space on your hosting to create the backup, could you check this?

It appears that my server stats are shooting through the roof when Updraft is in the process of actually backing-up and then it falls back down shortly afterwards. 2-21-2023

    Disk Usage 26.76?GB / 65?GB (41.16%)

    Physical Memory Usage 1.51?GB / 4?GB (37.79%)

    MySQL? Disk Usage 1.12?GB / 39.36?GB (2.84%)

A Godaddy technical support person removed (from their server) approx. 40gb of data that was attributed to Updraft.

    Is this a feature or a bug/

My Updraft Plugin is giving me the following error message:

    Mon, February 20, 2023 18:18

Warning: A very large file was encountered: uploads/dpl_uploads.zip (size: 679.9 Mb)

two unsuccessful attempts were made to include it, and it will now be omitted from the backup.

Is there anyway or feedback you can give me on exactly what this file is so I can determine whether or not I can back it up (download) it myself if possible and then delete the copy on the your server if possible.

    Thanks,

    Hi Monty,

Unfortunately we are not able to provide you much feedback in regards to the file in question as your developer would be the best source to review and provide you some feedback in regards to the zip file associated with the response above.

Here is a help draft article that talks a bit further in regards to the zip errors: https://updraftplus.com/forums/topic/errors-in-zip-file/

We would suggest reviewing the /upload folder and also the zip file in question to ensure it working as intended.

Here is another post that talks about the exact same issue you have encountered: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/updraft-error-warning-a-very-large-file-was-encountered/

Let us know if we can provide any further support at this time.

The “large file” issue has been resolved. However, the issue with an abundance of back-ups going to my hosting company’s servers has been resolved. Any assistance will be gladly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Monty
