    Hello everybody,

Since i updated wordpress the twenty seventeen theme is not working on my website.
It was around november, i thought it needs only to wait for an update for the theme to follow new wordpress.
I waited for an update to the theme, but after the update it is still wrong.
What can be the problem ?

Sorry i am not a programmer, and i love this theme, so it would be great if somebody would help me ??

Even the theme menu is not working.

Every plugin and wordpress is updated to the newest version.

The error message is the next: ( It is the same when i try to open the customization menu or the preview at the theme )

Warning: invalid argument supplied for foreach() ….. html/wp-includes-widgets.php on line 1509
Warning: array_merge(): Expected parameter 4 to be an array, int given ….. html/wp-includes-widgets.php on line 1342
Warning: array_diff(): Expected parameter 2 to be an array, null given ….. html/wp-includes-widgets.php on line 1342
Warning:invalid argument supplied foreach(), in ….. html/wp-includes-widgets.php on line 1345
Warning: array_merge(): Expected parameter 1 to be an array, null given ….. html/wp-includes-widgets.php on line 1353

Many thanks for everbodies help in advance.

    ákos

  • Hi @akos628 the Twenty Seventeen theme isn’t returning any errors on my test site, however, I don’t have any plugins on the site.

This may be a plugin conflict, please attempt to disable all plugins. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles. If you can install plugins, install and activate Health Check.

It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health. On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off, and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

    Hi @thelmachido,

I tried, and i have the same problem.
    i receive the same messages.

Health check shows everything is okay.

Hi @akos628 – could you please clarify the following specific points:

    • What version of WordPress are you using?
    • If you also have the standalone Gutenberg plugin active, what version is it?
    • What version of PHP is your server running?
    • Is the issue present with all your plugins temporarily deactivated? You can use the Health Check plugin’s troubleshooting mode for this, which will not change your live site – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ If the problem goes away, reactivate your plugins one by one (while still in troubleshooting mode) to find the culprit.
    • Is the issue present with a default theme like Twenty Twenty Twenty? Again, you can use the Health Check plugin for this.

    Dear Kathryn,

Many thanks for your help. ??

    Here are the answers:

    – Wp version: 6.1.1.
    – Gutenberg 15.2.0.
    – PHP 7.4
    – Heatlth check: only problem is the following: Connection Token Health ( Jetpack ) We recommend reconnencting jetpack
    – If i disable all of the plugins, the problem is the same.
    – I checked with twenty nineteen, and the page is okay

Hey there @akos628 – thanks for those details.

I’m still not able to replicate this on my end, running:

    • PHP 7.4.30
    • WP 6.1.1
    • Gutenberg 15.2.0 active or inactive
    • WP_DEBUG set to true and the Debug Bar plugin installed

I’m able to open the Customizer fine and see no PHP warnings or errors, either on the back or front end.

Since the errors appear widget-related, what happens if you move all your widgets into the Inactive Widgets area, temporarily? You can do that under Appearance > Widgets.

Do you have a staging copy of your site? You might want to do these tests there instead of on your live site, just in case something goes wrong.

If the errors go away after moving your widgets into the Inactive area, you can then move each widget back into an active widget area one at a time, testing in between. You might find the culprit that way.

If that doesn’t help narrow it down, could you provide a link to your site so I can have a look directly, in case it provides any clues?

Oh that’s great, I’m glad you found the culprit! You’re very welcome. Cheers!
