    Hello,

I recently deployed a website using WordPress and I wanted to use structured schema. It seems like there is a default schema that is generated. Breadcrumbs and Sitelinks are the default Schema Markup generated by AIOSEO, and the FAQ schema comes from your Elementor widget. The default schema generated is incorrect and I want to have more control over what schema I upload and how what type of rich results I am aiming towards.

I want to remove all the JSON-LD from the pages in a safe manner. I don’t know how to access the raw HTML so I can manually remove them. There isn’t a plugin or anything I have come across to get this done in a safe manner.

I tried removing schema on a separate using the “Remove Schema” Plugin but it did not work. Does anyone know a way to remove JSON-LD generated by default, I have been trying to get it done but have been getting stuck and its frustrating. Please let me know.

    Thank you!

  • It seems like there is a default schema that is generated.

What specific schema tag are you seeing? Can you provide the line of code?

For what it’s worth, I just installed a brand-new WordPress 6.1.1 site, with the default Twenty Twenty-Three theme and no plugin active. I don’t see any JSON-LD schema in the output:

This means that even if WordPress has any such schema (I don’t know the answer to that), it’s not output by default… and something on your site must be calling it.

    Standing by.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for answering. I did some digging yesterday and found the following. I’ll summarize in points below:

    • I use AIOSEO as my SEO plugin and I am pretty sure (Breadcrumbs, Sitelinks) are the default Schema Markup generated by AIOSEO. I asked their support and they mentioned that yes, that is the case.

I think you are correct. WordPress itself doesn’t have schema that gets called but its there 2 plugins that by default have schema. I am not sure how to turn this off or delete the existing ones. I have asked AIOSO support as I was already in conversation with them but it seems like its out of their expertise.

Sharing my website below as well (https://northeastviewdental.ca/), you can use the SEO Pro Extension by Marketing Syrup. It’s a good extension in general but you can use the schema tab to see the structured data. (SEO Pro Extension).

I truly appreciate your help, Thank You!

If the schemas in question are from these two plugins, then their respective developers should be the ones who can help you turn them off.

So, the AIOSEO plugin’s vendor should be the ones to tell you how to turn off their Breadcrumbs and SiteLinks schemas. If that’s “out of the expertise” of the people who wrote the plugin, I don’t know who else can ??

Likewise, the Elementor plugin’s vendor should be the ones to show you how to disable the FAQ and any other schema created by their plugin. As you’re using Elementor PRO, kindly log in to your Elementor.com account and open a ticket directly with the Elementor team, as commercial/PRO plugins are not supported here.

I’m not super familiar with either of these plugins, but I believe, in both cases, you’ll need to turn off the feature to stop the plugin from generating the schema. So to disable the AIOSEO plugin’s breadcrumbs schema, you’d have to disable the breadcrumbs feature in the AIOSEO plugin’s settings.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much, I have contacted AIOSEO to help resolve that and will also contact the Elementor team to see how we can fix that issue. I appreciate your help.

    Thank you!
