Anyone know how to import Blogger comments? If not, I dona€?t really see any way to legitimately enter them into the new blog here. I hate to lose all the comments going back to 2003. I have searched everywhere, but cana€?t find anything except how to export them out – not how to bring them in. Ia€?m not really a programmer, and this is the first time Ia€?ve worked with a tool anything like WordPress. Ia€?ve been able to make the plugins work – but then ita€?s really easy to do that the way you have it set up. I love WordPress 1.5- but I’d really love to be able to bring in the comments. I’ve already categorized my more than 400 posts – could you make a wee plugin? It would encourage more people to switch from Blogger.

  • Hey Virushead,
I had the same problem when I moved from Blogger earlier this week and I know how much fun it is to categorize 100+ posts!

As for importing the comments, I decided to spend some time this weekend on developing the procedure to do this. I don’t know PHP yet (I have n00b tatooed on my forehead, right?) so I’ll just document the steps and let someone else make a script if they want to.

But I might just be too ambitious; linking each comment to its proper post after the posts have been imported might be harder than I think. I seem to remember the archives being numbered in reverse order each month, so we’ll see what happens. Stay tuned!

W00T! My import-blogger-with-comments.php can now parse Blogger comments! It worked like a charm on my blog and it even knows how to import comments for posts you have already imported and categorized.

    Here is the code.

Not bad for a first PHP project, eh? Now, about submitting this for review inclusion in the next release… ??
