    Hi,

Store is based in the UK. Using Woocommerce PayPal Payments plugin. PayPal enabled to show buttons at checkout however they are saying:

    Paypal Checkout
    Pay in 4
    Debit or Credit Card

As the store is in the UK only Pay in 3 is accepted.

Is there a way to stop the PayPal button saying Pay in 4 and to get it to only say Pay Later or Pay in 3?

Checked and the Store location is set to UK.

    Hello @elainewildash

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

The payment options that are shown in the iFrame are decided and controlled by PayPal. Our plugin simply gathers details from the customer that is making a purchase and sends these details to the PayPal server. On the PP server, it will analyze these details and decide what payment options this customer should see for his location/situation. This would have an effect on the payment methods available, but also to something like the language that is being used for the buttons.

You can reach out to PayPal Merchant Support to see if anything can be done about this, but I don’t think it will.

Let me know if you have any more questions for us.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi @joostvandevijver,

    Thanks for your reply.

This is the problem. For UK customers and where UK is chosen as the billing (and delivery country) it is still showing as Pay in 4. BUT Pay in 4 is not available in the UK – and if you go through the button saying Pay in 4 you actually only get Pay in 3.

    Hello @elainewildash

yes I understand, but this is controlled by PayPal, not by the plugin. It could be that things like language settings on your OS or IP can affect what it is displaying. Many attributes can cause a change, but there is not 1 specific thing that controls this. You might want to ask PayPal Merchant Support if they have any further ideas on this for you?

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi @joostvandevijver,

    Thanks for your reply.

I understand what you’re saying but cannot see why PayPal isn’t recognising the site is UK based (and site is on a UK server), the site IP, the customers IP, the customer details on the site, their language settings etc. are all in the UK.

    Hello @elainewildash

I understand your situation, but we have currently no control over this via our plugin and cannot look into your account to see if there is any issue there. I could test your site to see what it shows me if you send me the URL. I can check and verify the situation, but there will not be much I can do about the situation, because it is currently handled on the PayPal server side, not the plugin.

However, the best option would still be to check with PayPal Merchant Technical Support on this issue. We are working on a new feature that will allow you to overwrite the language settings manually via our plugin. I will link that to this thread, so you will be made aware when this becomes available (if the thread is not permanently closed; which happens over time).

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hello @elainewildash

Since this thread will automatically close over time, I want to share the GitHub issue with you, so if you are interested, you can follow the developments there: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-paypal-payments/issues/600

I will mark this thread as resolved, since there is not much more we can add to this subject. Please open a new thread if you have any more questions for us.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
