    Hello,
Yesterday, I added a new page to my site. After the page was published, my site’s home page (https://entertainista.com) starting automatically redirecting to the new page (https://entertainista.com/about-entertainista/entertainista-writers/). I un-published the page and ever tried deleting the page, none of this fixed this issue. I had to re-publish the page so that a 404 – Page Not Found error would not show. I’ve check all my settings and I do not have any redirects setup.

I tried setting up a redirect back to entertainista.com and got the following error message:
This webpage has a redirect loop.

The webpage at https://entertainista.com/about-entertainista/entertainista-writers/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to fix this issue or what might be causing this?

    Thanks,
    M

  • Try deleting completely the page and to update your permalink structure. test another theme to see if it’s a theme problem or so disable your plugins and activate them one by one to see if one of them is causing the problem

I am having this same issue only with a post. I am using the “Redirection Plugin” and the problem disappears when this plugin is disabled.

We are currently using the redirection plugin to redirect category pages to different pages and have made no new redirects on the homepage at all. When the redirection plugin is enabled the homepage will redirect to this particular post. When that post is deleted, it will show a 404 error, page not found.

This is really strange. We’ve been using this plugin on the site for 6 months with no issues until now.

    Any ideas!!??

    Thanks!

OMG Thanks Gopeterb!! Removing the Redirection plugin totally did the trick.

I have no idea why it started acting like that but I would contact the person who made the plugin!!

yes … same issue with my website.

index page was redirecting to latest post as a single post.

Disabled the redirection plugin and all is back to normal…

Any suggestions to fix this or use another plugin?

After updating to 3.0.1, and later updates of plugins, all my existing page redirects broke because a trailing slash (/) had been appended to the links. Fixed them. Added a new page and had the front page redirection problem.

    Solution:

In the Redirection plugin dashboard, I chose ‘groups’, then chose ‘edit group’ for ‘Modified Posts’ (the link is on the right end of the row). I disabled the group. I wasn’t using redirects for modified posts anyway. That seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks so much parrothead, that did the trick. Pretty disconcerting to discover a whole site is redirecting to a random blog post just because of a WP upgrade! I hope Redirection pushes out a fix soon.

Thank you SOOOOO much parrothead! I have been tearing my hair out for the last few days trying to figure out where my out-of-the-blue homepage redirection came from and this did the trick. Thanks so much again for posting – good karma to you! ??

Thanks Parrothead – that’s the trick!
