Hello! I’m checking the SEO on a site I built and have a number of pages where the message I’m getting from Yoast in the SEO Analysis section is “Image Keyphrase: images on this page do not have alt attributes that reflect the topic of your text.” But on those pages I definitely have Alt text including the focus keyphrase.

For example, on this page https://hunterhypnotics.com.au/services/hypnosis-to-quit-smoking/ the Focus Keyphrase is hypnosis to quit smoking, and the image with alt text can be seen here https://pasteboard.co/9qqDxc6UuQ6c.png

Any advice about why Yoast isn’t picking up the alt text would be greatly appreciated ??

    Thank you

    Melanie

    Hello Melanie,

Thanks for reaching out about your alt attributes. First, please update the plugin from Yoast SEO plugin v19.14 to v20.2.1.

I checked the page, and it seems you’re using the Elementor page builder. In your page edit screen in Elementor, click on the image. After clicking the image, the “Text Editor screen” will show up. Click on the image as shown below and click on the Pencil icon. See screenshot. After clicking the Pencil icon, the image details will show up, wherein you can set your Alt text/alt attributes here. See screenshot.

    Hi Maybellyne

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I’m using Elementor Page Builder, but I’ve built over 100 websites using it, and I’ve never needed to add Alt Text in this way. I’ve always just added to each image via the Media Library. Is there a reason Yoast suddenly can’t see the Alt Text from the Media Library? This is a pretty major change if that’s the case.

    Regards

Hi again – I’ve just realised your screenshot displays an image uploaded via a text box. I am uploading images via an Elementor Image Widget, which doesn’t have the same settings as your screenshot. If I click on the image here https://staging.rapidwebsites.com.au/glass/services/glass-pool-fences/ it takes me to the WP Media Library, where the relevant Alt Text is definitely included.

I’m having the same problem, did you ever resolve this?

    Same problem here:

“Image Keyphrase: images on this page do not have alt attributes that reflect the topic of your text.” But on those pages I have Alt text including the focus keyphrase set on all the images!
