WooCommerce Shipping now requires phone number for origin address?

    Been using this plugin with no problems for 4 years. Today, it all of a sudden is throwing an error and requiring us to put in the customers phone number. I haven’t updated any plugins or made any other changes… Anyone else run into this today, or know what could be causing this?

    Error: The WooCommerce Shipping & Tax server returned: Bad Request Phone number must be provided in the “Destination address” tab. ( 400 )

    I understand that you are receiving the error message above after an order is placed on your site that requires the customer’s mobile number, correct?

    I replicated the scenario on my personal site, however, I am unable to reproduce the issue on my end.

    To better picture what you are referring to here, can you please share with us a clear screenshot of where you see this error message appear so that we could address you more effectively?

    Additionally, I’d like to understand your site properly, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

    If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

    Our site doesn’t require phone numbers for customers, it is optional. We were getting the errors for all the orders placed without phone numbers. For some reason, WooCommerce shipping and tax was requiring that we put in a phone number for the ‘destination address’. If I plugged a phone number in, it would work and allow us to print shipping labels.

    It appears the site is working fine now, but not sure if it is just temporary or what. I shut off plugins one by one and checked to see if I was still getting an error, and came to the conclusion that it was the ‘Google Analytics Integration’ plugin that was causing the issue. I later reactivated the plugin and was planning to go one by one through the settings to see if it was one of the settings that was enabled (like the ‘anonymize IP’ setting). But to my surprise, it was now working even with the plugin enabled. So, it seems that simply deactivating and then reactivating the Google Analytics plugin solved the issue (at least for now).

    The problem returned today. So uninstalling Google Analytics and Reinstalling does not fix the issue. However, it does seem that Google Analytics and WooCommerce Shipping & Tax are having some sort of conflict.

    Hey everyone dealing with this issue, i found the solution. ??

    “Origin phone number” is the sellers number, not the customers.

    After you click “Create Shipping Label” it takes you to the shipping options popup. At the top (which it usually skips) is YOUR origin address info. Add your phone number in there, verify it, and enjoy printing labels again.

    Then you can be like me and feel like an idiot for the next 2 days.

    The error I am receiving is the ‘destination’ address, not the origin address. So your solution unfortunately does not work.

    Thank you for clarifying the destination address is the issue.

    Some carriers require a phone number be entered for the customer in order to ship to them. If your customer doesn’t have a phone number, you might try entering your own business phone number instead.

    Not sure if this is related or not, but today I noticed that when you head to checkout their is a dialog box that says “(website name) Please provide customer last name”.

    You can click off of it, but then it reappears a second time. After that you can proceed with checkout like normal.

    Igor,

    I updated the plugins the day that updates became available (week ago or so?). So, unfortunately it is still an issue with the most recent versions.

    I have posted a new topic on the forum mentioned above.

    To update you here, kindly be informed that as of March 15th, 2023, WooCommerce Shipping requires that the origin address contain the shipper’s phone number. This is a USPS and federal government requirement in identifying the individual(s) responsible for shipping a package on behalf of the organization they represent. We must register each user that prints a shipping label through WooCommerce Shipping. If the phone number is not present, merchants may see a message like:

    Error: The WooCommerce Shipping & Tax server returned: Bad Request Phone Number must be provided in the 'Origin address' tab. (400)
